This is a pretty common question as most curly people are very particular about getting a haircut!
Curls come in ALL shapes and sizes, so having a good knowledge of all the proper cutting techniques in what really makes a curl specialist. I like to mix both wet and dry cutting techniques depending on the client's texture and desired outcome. Sticking to just one cutting method limits the possibilities for your haircut.
Here are two beautiful clients below. On top we have a type 4 curl mix. On the bottom we have a type 2 curl mix. I like to categorize curls based on the number (2, 3 or 4) rather than the letter to encompass the different textures most people have throughout their head. For a type 4 curl I would use a different cutting technique than I would for a type 2 curl. I combine both wet AND dry cutting techniques because cutting the hair wet first allows for more precision, while dry cutting helps to tailor the haircut.
I can't wait to take your curls on a journey! Feel free to contact me if you have questions getdreamcurls@gmail.com.
